For legal and insurance purposes, Vox Harmony operates under the auspices of the Launceston Musical Society. Because of this structure, members of Vox Harmony are also required to be financial members of the Launceston Musical Society.

Vox Harmony, however, has its own administrative committee, will choose its own music and rehearse and perform independently.

Membership

Vox Harmony has one intake a year and accepts new members only in February.

Vox Harmony has a cap on membership numbers. This is set at a maximum of 50 singers. We therefore cannot guarantee a place in the choir for all new applicants. The first two rehearsals for new members are commitment-free and no payment is required until the third rehearsal, should you decide to join.

Vox Harmony members are required to be committed to performances and rehearsals. It is also expected that members use their practice CDs in between rehearsals to become familiar with their voice parts.

Membership of Vox Harmony for 2010 costs $180 for the full year, or $100 for a half year.

In addition, there is an annual fee of $20 (or $15 concession) for membership of the Launceston Musical Society.

On becoming a member of Vox Harmony, you will be asked to acknowledge that your personal information, as supplied on your New Member Application Form, will be shared with the Launceston Musical Society.

Rehearsals

Vox Harmony will rehearse on Tuesday nights, in Newstead College, from 7-8:30 pm. Use the main entrance off Cypress Street. There is ample parking on site.

Rehearsals will be held every week, with the exception of Easter Tuesday and Tasmanian school holidays.

From time to time, there may be extra rehearsals during the lead-up to performances.

What to bring to rehearsals

Please bring a bottle of water, a pencil and a folder in which to keep your music. Name tags will be supplied. Please wear these at all rehearsals.

What to wear

During performances we will wear an all-black outfit, with blue scarf or cravat. This can be anything you like as long as top and bottom are black. Occasionally we may add an accessory, depending on the type and theme of the performance. You will be informed well in advance if an optional accessory is required. No special attire is required for rehearsals.

The website contains a Members Only section with downloads of accompaniments to the music we are singing in order to facilitate the learning process.The website will also contain regularly updated choir news as well as information about performances and social events.
